Chalk Lettering Signs

When you want to share information, why not make it pretty? A good sign can set the tone for an event, and share helpful information. Isn’t this sign darling for a bridal shower? This sign is lettered with white VersaChalk Wet Erase Markers. The sign won’t easily smudge, and when we are done with this event, we can clean it off with a wet paper towel and voila! We are ready for the next sign.

We used this sign at a wedding, obviously! With a liquid chalk marker from Kassa, I used both the chisel tip and the bullet tip to create variety in the thickness of the letters. The bride wanted an elegant rustic feeling, so the lettering is flowy and graceful, while the sign lends the rustic touch. I searched a long time for this chalkboard, reading through descriptions and reviews because I wanted something high quality and sturdy that wouldn’t blow over or collapse easily in the wind, and with outdoor use. The board is also magnetic, so that’s a bonus!

Lettering this mirror was a challenge! My daughter wanted her order of events sign to be a mirror. My challenges:
1. Tiny writing to fit it all in
2. Make it all straight and even – no flowy big and small lettering to camouflage mistakes
3. Very smooth and slick surface that caused the liquid marker to slip
4. Adding layers to the writing to make the white pop and be opaque
I think it turned out well! It’s difficult to photograph.

My friend Misty and I put together a darling photo booth at our church for Mother’s Day. The a-frame chalkboard sign included the hashtag for social media posts.

Of course, we couldn’t leave the dads out, so I put together a couple of signs for this fun gift table for all the dads and male mentors on Father’s Day.

My husband is our Youth Pastor at church, and sometimes I make little signs to tell the teens how much we love them! The Love Sweet Love sign at the Valentine snack table is actually a canvas I thrifted, then painted over. I used black chalk paint on the canvas, and red acrylic on the frame.

Hmmm. Apparently, I think of a lot of occasions that NEED a sign. Teacher appreciation, coach appreciation, birthday parties, first day of summer, team appreciation… You can see from these images that I don’t always use white liquid chalk markers. Sometimes I use colored liquid markers, sometimes I use cardstock and Sharpie, and sometimes I write on cup lids! (Those cups were actually filled with nuts – protein to power the coach’s workouts.)

My garden needed signage, too. So we painted on a mailbox, and on rocks… I think our puppy approves, don’t you? By the way – having a mailbox in your garden is a handy place to keep your gloves and hand tools out of the rain. 😉

What can you think of to letter on today?
