My church used to have this fabulous chalk wall that screamed for attention. So every few months or so, the kids and I would grab our chalk, and have a fun afternoon brightening things up at church. My friend Sarah would collab with me on the designs, and then our church family and guests enjoyed the fruits of our labor every time we walked through the room.
The space was REALLY LARGE, so we broke it up into smaller spaces by creating these frames, painted on with liquid wet erase chalk markers. That allowed us to change the designs within the frames without accidentally erasing the frames. When we were done with the frames, just a bit of water on a rag cleaned them right off. Most of the design inside the frames was just standard chalk in small sticks and jumbo ‘sidewalk’ size, so we could create details and cover large spaces easily.
We chalked this art in February, just in time for a “We LOVE our Volunteers” banquet. The staff held a special dinner for all the volunteers at our church. This background set the tone for the evening, then served as a reminder the rest of the winter of serving and loving others.
Working together and playing music while we work made the day even more fun, even during the clean up phase. 🙂
I wish I could find pictures of all the different designs we made. I know that chalk art is very temporary, but the message and the memory of the art is long lasting.
Here are some of the different chalks and liquid markers I like to use:

Versachalk Liquid Colors
Kassa Liquid Metallic Markers – Chisel and Bullet Tips
