Lettering Envelopes and Tags

I love lettering! It adds a special touch to someone’s gift or envelope. (Yes! I send letters through the MAIL…) I have a few moments of creativity on without the commitment of a big art project, and it makes my day happy, and hopefully brings a smile to my friend. I recently taught a class, and brought a note to each student on the last day. The image above shows their envelopes. I also added a piece of fun tape on the back for good measure. 😉

Detailed lettering adds one more touch of love to the Christmas gifts for our volunteer team at church.

A team I’m on wanted to bless a group with a Christmas gift, so we chose to pool cash donations into one big gift – then each recipient could buy something she really wants. We wanted a bit of presentation to the gift – so I sketched the envelopes, and Chloe and Caleb helped fill in all the details. (The sketch picture is in my car – I worked on some while I waited for my children to get out of class. Finding the time for beauty even with busy days!)

I sent these letters through the mail. I know my friends smiled when they received the letters. I wonder if anyone in the postal service noticed? Maybe it brightened their day, too. I added a bit of washi tape here and there – also on the back of the envelope – for a little extra whimsy. I don’t have pictures of most of this art, but hopefully there pictures in my loved ones’ memories.

Why not give it a try? You could even just letter a title at the top of your to do list…
